Statement #1 = Idea #1

Textbooks are expensive and curricula are uninspiring. Textbook market is largely controlled by for-profit publishing companies. For a tiny fraction of the total expenses spent on textbooks (by school districts), complete curricula and textbooks could be developed for free use.

A team of secondary school teachers, math/science professionals, and graphic artists(!) could create and constantly update programs, curricula, and textbooks. Unlike many bulky commercially developed textbooks, new textbooks should be able to creatively emphasize MEMORIZATION, DRILLS, and PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS that act as a firm basis for advanced understanding and creative re-creation of one's own understanding in math and science.

The role of visual contents is very important (but we don't need to use M. Jordan's NBA game shots as illustrations!). Anybody interested in joining this efforts is welcome.

I am a professionally trained theoretical astrophysicist who wants to help solve one of the serious problems in math and science education. Welcome to one of my small ideas. Stay tuned.
